Call me a nerd if you want but I love 8-bit & 16-bit chip-tune songs. They remind me of a simpler time. I mean, don't you remember running into the arcade and hearing the theme tune of your favorite game belted out in wonderful beeps & boops? Anyway Danger is a dope french artist that blends his love for retro video game music with today's electronic music. (Taking it back to it's roots) His new EP 9/17 2007 features a song called 4h30. Unlike some of his others which have to grow on me, this one I fell in love with immediately. Here's a 16-bit Teaser Trailer for the EP. So I decide to put this blog to good use and actually...blog. (Can I use that as a verb? Whatever) I don't watch a lot of TV maybe once or twice a week now but I am hooked on this Jersey Shore show. I mean part of me is like laughing at these guys but another part is like "yo can we hang out?" I'm not the only person who seems overcome with "guido" fever, because Just Blaze has just done a tribute song to the guido fist pump. I'm not sure if this is any indiciation on how long it takes to make one of these but...when I made this mashup Ron Browz's "Pop Champagne" was one of the hottest songs in the country and now he's been ~~dropped~~ "released" from his label to pursue other opportunities. Mr. John Cougar Mellencamp is in here. (I don't hunt cougars anymore I hunt mellencamps...don't repeat that.) I used two fan videos instead of the actual music video because well... the video looks like a slideshow. Nothing against it but it just didn't work. Anyway I hope you like it.

The Quantum Conundrum...

Finally...after what feels like forever, I have finished the Quantum Conundrum. It's part one of a three part project. For this project I started taking the drums from one song, the melody from another and the lyrics from another and mashed them all together. It's 13 Tracks and a little under a hour long. So here's a post with all of the songs along with the samples used in the tracks. (P.S. I highly recommend downloading the whole thing and listening to them in order. Even if there isn't a "Pt. 1 or Pt. 2" next to it, some of them are.)

Hollywood Paparazzi Rule The World...

Here's a video mash-up for "Hollywood Paparazzi Rule The World". I did notice something kind of interesting after watching this for about 20th time. You know how on live TV the turn everything grayscale if the blood/gore has reached an certain level. (Maybe not, they do it sometimes during sports. rare) By turning Daft Punk's portions of the video into black and white I think it zapped it of some of its energy. Ah...well.

This one has got a couple of different songs in there. Towards the end John Mayer's "Waiting On The World To Change" shows up as well as small samples of "California Love" & "Beverly Hills". (Just working with a theme...LA...Paparazzi) The "Around the World/Television Rules The Nation" was originally done by DP during Coachella in 2006.

The Paradiso Girls are the brain child of Robin Antin. The same Robin Antin that created the Pussycat Dolls... and another girl group after that Girlicious. While PCD hasn't had the same exact charm that they had during their debut album run they're still going relatively strong. So why the need for a competing girl group...on the same label...by the same creator? I Dunno but I love their single "Patron Tequila" feat. Lil Jon (Good to hear from him), here's a remix for the song. UPDATE: Scratch that. Had to take it down...whatevs. The song is psuedo popular now, I guess they don't need people like me hyping it up. (Uh...Yeah thems, sour grapes...Big woop. Wanna fight about it?)

I am a huge, I repeat huge Daft Punk fan. From their movies to their music everything is just out of this world. Now they're working on new music and a new movie but most importantly the Tron Legacy soundtrack. I wasn't even born when the first one came out but for whatever reason it and Short Circuit became two of my favorite movies growing up.

Shakira is back! She Wolf is her third english album and if the title track is any indication of things to come from the album it's going to be dope. I've personally watched her video about a million times. Not because she's ridiculously hot in it but because I'm sure she dislocates her hips about three or four times during it. Krazy Till I Come...

Pitbull has been doing a string of songs that sample popular dance/techno songs. His current hit Calle Ocho samples 75th Street Brazil. He's also sampled the ever popular Calabria in his song The Anthem and appears on a song by DJ Laz that samples Benassi's Satisfaction called Move Shake Drop.

With more dance and electronica being played so heavily in clubs and hip hop hanging in limbo, its a smart move to sample some of the club hits and get in on the action. I recommend downloading Birdman's Written On Her.

Welcome To Installation A17

So this is Installation A17, home of the Vanilla Varsity All-Stars & L.isle. I got tired of Facebook, Youtube and some of the other social networking sites. I felt constrained. So while I'll still post most of the stuff on Facebook, (videos on YouTube, Twitter, etc.) this is officially home base.

Also I've reposted my first mixtape the ElectroGhettoDiscoShow along with other songs here for archiving purposes. Stay tuned, subscribe and check back often because the next project is coming soon. The Quiet Kid & The Quest of The Quantum Conundrum (It's a mouthful I know) It's essentially three mixtapes. The first is The Quantum Conundrum which is a compilation of my DJ and mashup efforts. The second is The Quest which is a remix mixtape like ElectroGhettoDiscoShow. The last is The Quiet Kid which is my mixtape as an artist.
